□□♀️ When it comes to fat loss, it really is just about being in a calorie deficit. If you start to feel like you’re a slave to My Fitness Pal or can only eat something because it fits your macros/calories, it’s probably time to step back. □□□ You have to be honest with yourself though. But it’s like money: If you want to get a grip on your finances, it helps to do a spending diary and sort out your budget. □ I’m not talking about measuring every morsel of food you eat, ain’t nobody got time for that. It’s not about controlling what I eat, but about gathering information and learning. If, say, I feel like my diet is all over the shop and I want to get a grip on my nutrition, or see if I’m eating enough fibre or protein for example, I might roughly track my food for a few weeks. You can dip in and out - that’s what I do. □ Tracking your food intake should be seen as a tool and it can be a brilliant way to educate yourself. □ But that also means you run the risk of developing an unhealthy dependence on doing so, so it’s imperative to be self-aware: tracking can easily become an obsession and lead to anxiety, stress and control issues. □□ If you are a type A person who lives for planning like myself, the chances are you might quite enjoy logging your nutrition from time to time, be that calorie counting, macro tracking or just keeping a food diary. *deep breath* Let’s talk about calories, macros and tracking. ![]() Account icon An icon in the shape of a person's head and shoulders.
